Canine Partners Canine Partners mission is to assist people with disabilities to enjoy a greater independence and a better quality of life and, where possible, to help them into education and employment, through the provision of specially trained dogs, whose well-being is a key consideration. Their dogs not only provide practical day to day assistance with tasks that may be difficult, painful,or impossible to perform, but they also provide that special companionship, unconditional love and affection which is so unique to dogs. Alexander Devine Alexander Devine Children's Cancer Trust has been set up by his parents in memory of their amazing son Alexander. Alexander was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour in November 2001 at the tender age of just four years. He endured operations, treatments and chemotherapy in his four year fight against cancer, with exceptional courage and bravery, with great dignity and without complaint. In honour of his outstanding courage and strength they have formed this trust, the long term aim of which is to build and fund a Children's Hospice service in the Berkshire area. Aims2Cure The Aims2Cure Committee was formed in January 1999 with the sole aim of raising money for research into Multiple Sclerosis. They are continuing the work of the Aims North West Committee originally established in 1978 to provide the salaries for Research Scientists in the Department of Neuroinflammation at the Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London. St. Thomas' Lupus Trust Set up in 1991, The St Thomas' Lupus Trust, aims specifically to support the work of the Lupus Unit at St Thomas' Hospital, London. The activities of the unit are divided into Teaching, Research and Clinical work. Today, the charity pays the salaries of 3 doctors, 1 PhD and a technician as well as all research costs. PALS The Partnership for Active Leisure Scheme is a charity that helps young people (aged 6-18 years) with physical disabilities get out and enjoy life. They offer a varied program of inclusive; leisure, sport and recreational activities that build confidence and encourage independence.
